Bless' Em, the Newly Wed...

December is a love-ly month indeed...

A month to get married...

This month alone I received THREE invitations.

Of course to some of you who are more popular might find that it’s not really a lot. But it’s quite a lot for me...

Scratching head time to how much Ang Pow (red packet -cash gift) to Pow... Haiz.

Here's something interesting to share...

4th Dec 05- First wedding invitation of the month.
@ Singapore Kalhsa Association.
Attending an Indian traditional wedding for my first time.

The invitation card states that wedding will commence from 7:30pm- 9:30pm.

Being a punctual person- I reached the place at 7:15pm.

Free seating. Find myself a table. Greeted by my friend Arun- the bridegroom.
From there I started my first bollywood wedding experience.

The ceremony rituals literally took almost two hours and for two hours I sat there "enjoying" the Indian music ("live band on the stage").

By the 8:30pm, the tables then started to be filled up.
Birds of a feather flocks together... My table is filled with other chinese colleagues (all the first timers).

At 9:00pm, a little Indian girl- looks abit like the little girl in the visa ad. Went around the tables giving yellow glutinous rice and kachia puteh (peanuts)- looks like the dinner is finally about to commence and they are serving the appetizer already. Man! After two hours of waiting, was I famished... Even though the yellow rice tasted abit weird, the kachia puteh was great!

Suddenly a commotion started when the groom kissed the bride!

The guests all stand up and started throwing the yellow rice and peanuts at them!!!

Our table got nothing but our faces to throw... We then realized that the rice and the peanuts were to be use to Bless the newly Wed- so malu (embarrassed)!

An interesting lesson learnt on Indian culture indeed.

Bless' Em, the Newly Wed...
