Saw this event on Timeout Singapore online. There's this little art exhibition showcasing a series of oil paintings by this local artist - Chng Chin Kang. This series of paintings is very unique indeed. Giant cosplay girls were transported through time into old streets scenery of Singapore.
Initially wanted to pay a visit last week but did not materialize. Yesterday have a dinner appointment with my friend Charles and Vincent at Bugis. Since there are some time before the stipulated meeting time, decided to drop by Chinatown to take a look.
Utterly Art Exhibition Space is situated at a little shophouse opposite the Chinatown Indian Temple along South Bridge Road. The space is not fantastically big but have very cozy ambiance and serenity. One can really take own sweet time to look at the paintings.
I take my time and soak into the sensation of the artworks before me. I was pretty amused to find a little black kitten in every one of his paintings here. I then ask the Utterly Art owner if the little kitten is some sort of signature of the artist... He share with me that the kitten is call Hei Hei, was Chin Kang's pet. He really missed the cat very much as we can see from his works.
Click here for the pictures and the story of the paintings at the Chin Kang's blog.
